Please make a 14,15 & 16 digit custom bar code so we can use it for IKEA,Gadiva Chocolate & others until you guys can for all of the loyalty card out there.

I am trying to use the app to generate a 5 numeric digit barcode. While the app appears to work and a barcode is generated, the app is actually entering an unseen additional alpha character at the end. I am selecting 5 digit custom. Where could this extra character be coming from? Anything I can do to make it work?

Also want ability to scan my loyalty cards rather than typing them in. This would be faster and also the program would recognize what type of bar code it is rather than me telling it. Also a good scanner could recognize the store name (the way WorldCard scans business cards). Finally the barcodes are all scrunched up. Is this normal?

the barcodes are so small; it doesnt work on handheld scanner or regular food store scanning belt? did I miss something?

I should probably point out that I'll still use my current, but aging, laptop for my on-the-go development. I recently spent two weeks in Michigan on a working-vacation with family. I brought my laptop, of course, and bringing the desktop wouldn't have been very convenient. However, I also lugged along my 22" monitor.

I think desktops are not dinosaurs, but laptops have certainly come-of-age and become first-class competitors to desktop's dominant position. So, desktops probably have their place, and since I crave more power, ram, and disk space, and since I usually work on one place and since I still have a laptop and well-functioning iPad, the desktop is making sense for me.

For you, it sounds like laptops will remain in your future - great.

I have to agree.... the desktops are no longer an option. As a developer, I can personally say I have been bitten by a lack of a UPS or worse, a dead UPS and with power companies power surges have blown out my share of motherboards from voltage regulation - all of which is completely avoided with the laptop. In addition, I like the ability to carry my office anywhere and quite often do when I least expect it.

Good luck with the desktop but those are horses IMO to my car.

hmmm, hard to say whether i would do that, if you buy the new macbook pro, i7 processor with 8GB of RAM and 64bit system, and 500GB HDD with 7200 RPM and 512 MB of Graphics Ram. Too fast... too powerful... paid around 3K bucks!

But in other side, i guess for browsing net with a big screen without Flash player support, iPad is ok! still i want to see Hulu.com and not to give money to iTune store for buying media/video contents from iTune.

Yeah it can be tricking, it's trying to get a good balance between accurate and over sensitive. Sometimes turning on from lock after putting down on a flat surface confuses it which can be annoying. But hey it usually takes only a second to correct it.

The problem with the first 'fix', is that I actually have to do it every time. I could solve this myself if Apple gave us a way to calibrate the auto-dim setting, instead of simply giving us a yes/no option.

The lock option for is a good work-around - agreed. I think, though, that Apple has a flaw in the algorithm. If I move from a somewhat not-flat position and then to a mostly-flat position, then I would expect that the previous orientation should stay the same.
